The Ailos System brings together 13 credit unions and was established 20 years ago in the state of Santa Catarina. Currently, it also operates in Paraná, São Paulo, and Rio Grande do Sul, serving 1.6 million members across Brazil. With assets totaling R$ 23 billion and credit operations amounting to R$ 16 billion, the institution serves individuals, businesses, and the public sector.
With the rapid growth of operations and the increase in daily transactions, the Ailos System faced the challenge of supporting its digital transformation. Additionally, there was a need to migrate its data center to a new provider, as the previous one was unable to meet the company's expansion demands.
Having had a long-standing partnership with Teletex, the Ailos System chose the Cisco Application Centric Infrastructure (ACI) solution, recommended by the company as the most suitable for its needs. Cisco ACI, a software-defined networking (SDN) solution, was designed for data centers and allows the infrastructure to be managed based on network policies, optimizing and accelerating the application lifecycle.
The migration to the new data center, located at Equinix, was carefully planned over 30 days and implemented over 180 days. The process included training sessions and knowledge transfer to the team responsible for the migration, ensuring the successful transport of servers, data, racks, and the network core. Teletex specialists provided consulting services and tested all environment variables to avoid failures during execution.
With the implementation of Cisco ACI, the benefits were immediately apparent. The environment became stable, with no major issues since the migration. The graphical interface replaced the old lines of code, providing greater agility and ease of operation. Additionally, advanced features of the solution brought significant improvements in security and automation, taking the Ailos System to a new level of efficiency in data center management.
The network microsegmentation feature was another major advancement, enabling the isolation of applications, workloads, and network segments at highly granular levels. This reduced the attack surface and minimized lateral threat traffic within the environment. The embedded security in Cisco ACI eliminated the need to hire new vendors for network protection, resulting in significant savings for the cooperative.
With Cisco's scalable solution, the Ailos System plans to expand the use of Cisco ACI to another data center, keeping pace with its ongoing growth. In addition, the cooperative continues to rely on the services of Teletex and Cisco to support its operations and ensure the protection of its investments.
In addition to Cisco ACI, the Ailos System implemented Cisco Umbrella, which provides advanced web threat protection at the DNS level. This solution was crucial for the security of over 300 service points of the cooperative, ensuring secure connectivity and reducing operational costs.
The adoption of solutions such as Cisco ACI and Cisco Umbrella, in a structured and planned manner, allowed the Ailos System to maximize return on investment, minimize disruptions, and efficiently integrate technologies. As a result, the cooperative strengthened its operations, promoting a more secure network and positioning itself to meet future demands.
