The Zurich Airport Group is currently involved in the operation of 10 airports worldwide. In addition to Zurich Airport, the company focuses its investments in Latin America, where it operates airports in Bogotá, Curaçao, Florianópolis, Vitória, Macaé, Natal, Belo Horizonte, and the Chilean airports of Iquique and Antofagasta. In Belo Horizonte, the Swiss group operates the Tancredo Neves International Airport in partnership with CCR and Infraero since 2014. In 2019, the company also won the concession to build and operate the second airport in New Delhi, India.
According to the executive, in 2021, Zurich Airport needed a partner to ensure the continuity of its operations. "At that time, we had a supplier that was not fully meeting our technological demands, and in this regard, we replaced them with Teletex for the support of our environment – an integrator that demonstrated deep knowledge in monitoring high availability and mission-critical environments.
Zurich prioritizes business security by protecting passengers, internal information, and the company's reputation. This year, it implemented new security solutions such as Cisco Umbrella DNS, which blocks threats before they reach the network, and Cisco Secure Endpoint, which controls devices and combats advanced threats. The Identity Services Engine (ISE) strengthens access control and identity management. The Cisco Catalyst Center automates and simplifies infrastructure management, while Cisco SPACES collects real-time data via Wi-Fi for movement analysis. The Wi-Fi network was optimized with improved performance and protection, and Cisco switches were integrated to provide high performance, security, and automation.
Florianópolis International Airport – Hercílio Luz was voted the best airport in Brazil for the fourth consecutive time, according to the award from the National Civil Aviation Secretariat (SAC). With a score of 4.74 (on a scale of 1 to 5), it achieved the highest overall satisfaction average among the 20 largest airports in the country in 2023. In second place was Vitória International Airport, also managed by Zurich Airport Brasil, with a score of 4.73. The evaluation considered 17 items of infrastructure, service, and amenities, such as Wi-Fi, cleanliness, thermal comfort, and security inspection. Zurich Airport Brasil stands out as the operator of the best airports in the country, with high-capacity Wi-Fi that, in some cases, had to be adjusted to prevent exceeding the limits of airport areas.
Since 2021, the IT department has become a Business Unit. Through the Florianópolis airport's data center, Zurich's IT area started offering services to other companies in the region, establishing itself as a sustainable business front that currently generates revenue. With a 24x7 data center operation, Zurich is able to serve operators, hospitals, and other critical demands. "This model has been working very well in Florianópolis, and we are planning to expand it to other regions where we operate," the executive anticipates.
